In the meanwhile I met my old (literally) neighbour who always wait for me to make a little chat.
Mr. H** is not quite like most of my neighbours, hasn't got hairlocks & wears wide brimmed hat.
He asked me about Jewish New Year card which he left me at my mail box.
I expressed as well as I could all of my thankfulness & apologies that I'm doing it so late but I wasn't sure who's the sender.

Then he asked me about my kids and I said
''They're fine. They're just waiting for me becouse I found I have no cash &.."
"Oh, you have no money'' he interrupted reaching to his pocket "I'll give you some"
"O, no! Thank you!' I said & explained the misunderstanding
"Remmeber' he said "If you'll need money, I will always help you.."
"Oh, gosh" I thought realy touched....

I met Mrs Baila, one of my Jewish client yesterday evening, very nice & satisfied of my works for her, who has 5 children & is much younger than me.
We made a little chat but in th meantime some other client called to me.
I took out my mobile, checked is it one of my family members, then turned the volume of its ring with words: I don't take business calls at this time.
She was very surprised so I explained her that in my culture we don't call even to friends after 6, maybe 7.
It's our family time.
She said 'But WE call even later to each other..'
'I know' I answered ' I felt that on my skin, it's sometimes even funny, I can expect calls exactly after Shabos for egzample, when it's finaly allowed. & sometimes people call to me already when I'm in my bed..'
Baila was still very curiouse so she asked me
'Is it normal habit or only yours & your friends?'
'I think it's ...regular in .. Europe.. & .. in .. America..'
He had constipation and woke up every day with painful belly.
I feel that I can finaly write about becouse he's much better now.

After two week of my complacence since the end of my son's problems , my daughter closed the door with her ring finger, luckily didn't broke it but she had platic surgery to remove her nail.
It was huge experience to see her asleeping under an anaesthetic, wait for her awaking and try to calm her down when she finaly opened her eyes.
The surgery was made at the Royal Hospital, very nice and friendly place so my daughter wanted to stay there longer.

ESOL tests
It wasn't so bad, they scared us more befor during pre-tests
While my writing test my daughter, escorted by my husband, had an appointment at the hospital so I didn't care about questions two much, just tried to finish it as fast as it possible, collect my son from his school and join to the rest family at the hospital.

Speaking and listening test was the biggest challange. Me and my partner, Martha from Columbia had to speak together with some writing examiner behind us.

Now I don't eat the walls and I'm flying like my computer and maybe I'll write some posts, maybe.
Now I'm bracing myself to go to my ESOL course at 11 o'clock.
My exams are coming. I have Reading Test next Monday and Writing Test next Wednesday. I'm not afraid about them becouse I passed that experimental one.
I had 86% from reading, I konw it could be better. About my writing they wrote me describing note:

"Well done. These are excellent answers to the tasks, with good expansion of the main points.
You have some excellent vocabulary and your work flows well generally. Be careful with subject -verb agreement and with the use of articles."

Now, I know what to do with paragraphs and wher my problem is. But I'm still not sure about that subject -verb agreement. I'll be very grateful for suggestions.

There will be bigger problem with Speaking and Listening test. We'll work in pairs and we'll have only 15 minutes for that. I'm in pair with Martha from Columbia. We practised ones after last Friday's lesson and we have strong resolution to do it again. Maybe today..

O! It's time to go! By!
But how can I do my daily excersise between those all swimming, flying and walking birds, sneaking cats and wagging children? I just can't and I stop at every fascinating momenth.
Yesterday I saw from 50 metres distance that one of grey herons tried to touch down the path few times but from some reason it couldn't and balanced dangerously above water.
It was on my way so I finnaly found what's going on..
Every time when the heron attempted to land some crow rose from grass and catched wings of much bigger bird.
It was unusual cruel ballet in the air.
Shame that I had no my camera but from the other side I don't think I could take that picture.
It stays only in my memory
and in your imagination.

My first words are inspirated by some line from polish movie from 1970 titled "The Cruise" (Rejs) directed by Marek Piwowski.
Just finish Robert McLiam Wilson's "Eureka Street".
Quite nice, I like male view, male kind of writing, maybe it's generalization but I think it's more universal.
Of course, there are exceptions like Margaret Atwood or polish poetress Wislawa Szymborska but mostly women write to much.. female.
Funny but my next choice it's "Out of Africa" of Karen Blixen.
First chapter behind me (may I say that like that?)

Polish titles
Someday someone responcible will be hanged for translations of titles mostly from English.
These are not only my words.
For example, meantioned "Eureka Street" was printed as "Ulica marzycieli" what means "Street of dreamers".

I can multiply instances and doesn't matter is it book, movie, sitcom or soap-opera
Dirty dancing - Twirlin' sex
Imagine how many teenagers couldn't watch it..
Terminator - Electronical Murderer

The worst are rhyming:
Full Monty -Goło i wesoło - Naked and funny
Grosse Point Black -Zabijanie na śniadanie -Killing for breakfast
High Fidelity -Przeboje i podboje -Hits(music sense) and hits(sexual)
Is it a curse on John Cusack?

O, that last one reminded me about another one tendence -different titles for book edition.
Nick Hornby's novel showed up as "Wiernosc w stereo'' i.e. "Fidelity in stereo". Nice, isn't it?
And another: J. Irving's"The Cider House Rules" is translated word-for-word but movie got new standard..
It's "Wbrew regułom" that is "Against the rules" $%*!!%#^%^@#&*&!!!
THAT'S CHANGE EVERYTHING, ISN'T IT?!

Addictions
I've never smoked, I don't drink to much and I totaly faithful to my husband.
But if I have to much time, I usualy have, I can easy fall into some dependence.
I can play patience by hours, watch sitcomes or surf in web.
And nothing can't stop me until I finish that somehow.
Now I discovered On Demand TV.
I know I'm miserable.

Nearly week ago I've read about May Fayre and puppets festival at the Covent Garden.
Something definitevely what kids like.
Becouse parade was going to start at 10.30 am we woke up early, had some breakfast, set out and reached St. Paul's Church before 10. Not bad. We have some time for looking around and listening classical music (nice string quartet was playing Vivaldi's "Four seasons").
Nothing showed something else will happen so I was thinking franticly is it this day?
Then some people was gathering in front of the church so we joined.
There was a performer in the circle starting his show.
In the meantime my doughter sat at the foot of the collumn, she was looking very cute so I took her a picture

and then my 15 seconds of fame happen..
'Do you know this child' asked me the performer.
I nodded abashly
'Why? You don't recognize her at home?'
'Oh. She grows so fast' I cast as the answer.
'You should take pics of stranger'
'Ok' I said aiming at him so he posed to me

His show was very very funny but unfortunately at 10.30 the parade finnaly started and he couldn't finish his sketch with cigarette.
I hope meet him again.
As we expected the parade was lovely.
There was a man with bowler hat and umbrella at the start, next brass band, Pearly Kings wearing button-threaded suits and few clowns.
We went somewhere through Covent Garden with them and some people like us.

At the end we came back to the St . Paul's Church where Puppets Fest started and we stayed watch few plays.
As you can see my kids had fun

What is obvious for old Londoners it's sometimes difficult to find for us, immigrants.
Last time I took maps with Thames path walks and my hubby noticed the Greenwich Foot Tunnel.
The plan was simple: we take DLR train to Canary Warf and go along river path to the tunnel.
Of course it wasn't so simple especially with children but they get used to. We always got idea like this.
So we took the train and left at the station. Outside we met a group of people lookig up and making pics.
It came in that it's an action 'Reach for the sky', charity for a canser research.

We stayed few minutes admiring peoples brave and moved to find the Thames. Our map turned up very simplified, very confusing becouse there isn't one water-basin but thanks this we went into cute Jubilee Park.
Finnaly we took a good direction and got the river.
We walk by Mill Wall, turned on Westferry Rd and back to path.
Then we discovered a place where the Great Eastern was built and there we stayed for a rest.

It will always a mistery for me, why childrem are tired walking straight way and full of strength finding a place like that above
It wasn't far to the tunnel so we found it soon with another occasion to make children happy again

After our ford we ate something among many tourists, mostly German speaking teenagers and we moved back.
I realy don't konw how we found forces to buy shoes for my daughter..

I woke up from the dream, another version of a dream from about month ago.
First:
I was in Poland and I couldn't back to London and I regreted. I opened my eyes and rested with relief very suprised that I like my new life so much.
Yesterdays:
Almost this same but I blamed my husband

After soft-boiled eggs for breakfast we set out to the Green Park for a
sunny-do-nothing.
Almost gropingly in this ligth I took some pics of
people resting

and some pics of my mostly runnig kids

But this nice day had realy unpleasant ending..
I was barbequeing with my hubby and chose bad way to say that it was nice day with relaxing walk and eating out.
Bad way becouse I added that I miss that and we should do that often...
I don't know why but he took personal and he was sorry so I was sorry also, and we needed some time to back to our 'Bold & Beautiful' marriage
What can I do.. I have got very sensitive second half..

Local acquaintances
About two months ago I joined to the ESOL group, Entry 3B.
Today we were talking about our opportunities to speak English.
I'm in quite good situation becouse I've got English speaking neighbours (2 French & 1 Italian upstairs, Jews in the nextdoors) but the others have got problem with this becouse they rotate middle their countrymen and they doesn't know any Englishmen (The Amishes use to say like that..don't they?)
Ye me to, I don't know any.. I was talking about that with my lovely Italian, Miss D. and her Spanish friend.
The last one has rational explanation, why we don't know English people in London.
Rational and simple.
She remarked that in her country she had her group of friend, very near but closed to the others.
And she added that she didn't knew any immigrants until she came to UK. I agree but there are exceptions.
Miss D. for egzample hasn't got any problems with finding friend everywhere and in everybody.

A propos or like you wish by the way Miss D.
I hate my sister-in-law, Aneta, ok almost hate, I'm just on the border. She came to me with her husband once and we mentioned that we have very friendly Italian neighbour upstairs.
Half our later Miss D. came to us with her friend from movie study who was looking for living room like ours to shoot a short movie.
Aneta quickly disapeared, like usually, becouse she's strongly afraid to speak English.
So we were talking in English about everything and nothing, but I wasn't feel comfortable with that and I went to Aneta to see how is she.
And you know what?
She started to talk about Italians, that they are arrogant, they throw Italians sentences to their talking becouse they think (!) that their language is the best, and generally they think (!) that they are the best etc. etc.
I tried to object but she rejected my arguments saying that she knows better becouse she was in Italy..
So I gave up becouse we cannot win with someone's inferiority complex.

My reason
We prepare to the test Cambridge at the ESOL.
We had some pretests before Eastern holidays and now hearing for the results.
Anyway, to prepare us to speaking test, one of our teachers, Mr Teacher, asked us why we came to live here.
He mentioned that it's horrible place for him.
But in my opinion it's not so bad especially becouse of my reason to live here.
Me and my husband, we're atheists and we couldn't stand living in katholic country where our constitutional law were/are broken all the time.
But it's a long story so be prepared... Now, you probably guested that I come from Poland

Almost forgot
There is a link to story about some Italian man:
http://9527.net/archives/2005/12/29/16/
I must add that I pasted it few days ago as a comment below prydwen's post, also very good:
http://grinandbearit.blog.co.uk/2008/04/23/you-have-to-laugh-4083156

But I would like to join to the protest. I've heard that China is calling for avoiding shopping at Carrefour but I don't have anyone in the neigbourhood and it's quarrelling with my attitude to supermarkets.

And I don't drink Coke and don't wear Addidas too.

Is my ring out of order?
I asked myself when I tried to find my slippers.
I tried to open my main door but someone got ahead of me.
It was a nice and Italian or Spainish girl (definitely, I was drunk when I met her 1st time).
She's got keys, I noticed.
And she came to my upstairs neighbours.
Not to me.
Everything cleared up becouse knocking person was staying behind.
It was Ortodoxan Jewish women living few doors next.
Dressed with home-tunic neighbour praised my new corner rock garden and shamely sayed that she needs my help. She explained that becouse of Shabas she cannot turn any switches.
And she in a trouble becouse her parents are visiting her family.
In the other case she wouldn't disturb me.
I answered that if she'll show me what to do I'll help her with a pleasure.
She was lost in thoughts for a momenth and delicate answered:
-You must understand that I cannot tell you what to do. You.. must.. guess. I'm telling you that my children turned of the light in my lavatory and you..
-..and I'm going to turned it on.
-Perfect! And the temperature in my house is to high..
-..and I will make it lower? -I anwered with broken grammar.
-Yes! Perfect! -she was very glad and excited -Can we go?
-Yes, of course.. but my clothes -I finnaly noticed that I was wearing blouse and pyjamas trousers..
-Are... perfect! Perfect!
So, we went to her house.
-It's our nice neighbour -she threw in the midtime to her surprised husband.
She showed me a dark toilet which I changed.
-Perfect!-she said realy glad, then she took my to the living room and showed me air-cordition.
It was turned on 35C. I took it and started saying:
-30C, 25C.., 20C..
-Perfect!

Yes, London is perfect place to live.

PS. Strong-signed words are used first time by me.. but to be honest I'm not sure about all post
